April Round-Up - Leadership, Festivals and Community
Our topic this month was Leadership - and there is good reason that we started this with a discussion on Trust - an essential dynamic for any aspiring leader to cultivate with their team.
We often find easier to build outside of our immediate work environment - one of the reasons we established the Career and Confidence Club - so that you can find independent resources, advice and support!
The Lunch & Learn this month focused on "Leadership Skills for the Future" and it was great to have so many people new sign up based on this topic - welcome to all our latest subscribers! If you missed the session or want to catch up with any of the previous Lunch and Learn sessions then keep an eye out for the videos in the CC Club Library page.
One of the many softer skills that are critical to success in leadership in our fast-changing environment include Compassion so check out the next of our April articles with some top tips on creating a culture of respect.
Another key message from our Leadership lunch and learn was the importance of leaders managing themselves. If you're looking to lead, the complexity of modern workplace means this is no longer just about taking command and climbing the ladder - to have others trust and follow you means knowing yourself and your goals and communicating well.
To get clearer on your career goals, individual career coaching can help, so our next article focused on finding the right coach for you. We ended the month with a reminder on how time outdoors to restore yourself is one way of keeping your confidence high.
If individual coaching is not right for you at this time, here at the Confidence Collaborative we also provide another option with our accessible Coaching Circles. We've had great feedback from attendees so far on how helpful the process can be. So, why not bring your questions and challenges about stepping up into a CoachingCircle? The next planned group starts on Tuesday 23rd May.
What's next...
Alongside the next Coaching Circle, coming up for May we have Managing Office Politics on the agenda - so if this is something that has tripped you up in the past, come along to learn and share your valuable experience with others! You can register for the session in advance via Eventbrite, and we will also share the link nearer the date.
What else is going on at the Confident Career Club?
We are currently starting to build our content for our membership that will support you in various ways such as monthly community connect sessions, courses masterclasses and .
We are also looking at how we can connect more easily and regularly with each other. Options like Facebook groups or using the Discord App could be great fun and easy to use. We could set up different threads on Discord for example, such as a book group, accountability group and various other ideas. If you have a strong preference or have seen other options work well in other community groups then let us know at info@confidencecollaborative.com or DM us on Facebook or Linkedin.
Why join our community ?
Here are some of the reasons why being part of our paid membership when we launch could set you on your path to career freedom and fulfilment as well as building your capabilities, skills and confidence in yourself.
- Making connections in the virtual world especially if you work more remotely now
- Offering strong support to others and receiving it back in bucket loads
- Increasing your confidence
- Sharing relevant and similar experiences
- Gaining advice from others and be challenged in a safe and supportive environment
- Discussing topics that are relevant, such as career progression, how to build your influence and managing work-life pressures.
If there's something else you'd really like to see now is the time to let us know so we can shape this around you!
Festival Season is upon us... here are some great events we've identified.
Womanifest: We are heading to Womanifest in Cheshire on the weekend of the 15th and 16th July. There'll be silent discos, yoga, amazing talks and workshops, firewalking and much more. So seriously, check it out!
Joanne is setting up stall there with her Positively Positive Journal and Notebooks plus mini 1:1 coaching sessions. We also will be sharing more about our membership. So come and visit us for a chat.
The Big Feastival - Fancy a family fun weekend with music, activities, music, cooking demonstrations and much, much more? Take a trip to the Cotswolds in August and you will have an amazing time.
Joanne has been twice and loved the variety of activities including feeding goats, meeting celebrities such as the chef Andi Oliver who borrowed Joanne's husband's phone to contact her boyfriend after losing him in the crowd. Doing a bit of DJ training was a highlight!
For anyone interested in Christian spirituality, Maggie will be attending the Refuel festival in Fochabers from 24th July so would be delighted to connect with you there. There is also The Big Retreat Festival in early June plus so many more to choose from... have fun whatever you decide to do!
